This weekend was a rare treat! We were kid-less for Friday night, carbo-loaded on the yummiest pizza, and raced Saturday morning.

Brice and I got to the race just 10 minutes before the start time so I was a little panicked but we just went with it. I made it to the starting line with about a minute to spare and off I went. The marathon started ten minutes before the half. I was able to see Brice once along the course and that was totally fun! I had a solid race until mile 21 and then my quads were just so tight and achy and I just didn't have the energy I should have. I kept going along, but was bummed as my pace went from solid 7:10s to 7:50-8:20 minute miles. I finished in 3:19 and placed 1st in my average group and 2nd women overall. I was the 8th finisher out of 140?

Brice finished the half marathon in 1:45 which was 7 minutes faster than his Thanksgiving half. We both ran slower than we trained for but its alright. After hanging out in Irving for a while we headed home, barely made it up all our stairs and enjoyed warm showers and naps until we went to pick the kids up. We missed having the kids around but at the same time I didn't miss them at all. I really hope that doesn't make me a bad mom.

A big thanks to my cousin, Lisa, and her husband Ryan for watching the kids for us. I'd really like to run another marathon, faster this year, but I can barely walk or squat right now so I'll give it awhile to decide on anything.
And a big shout out to my friend Andrea for finishing her first half under her time goal! It was fun to spend time with them on Saturday!
Brice ran his first half- marathon!
I say first because he's already told me he wants to do another one soon. My heart could seriously burst.

Brice and I ran the Thankful 13 in Lehi, Utah on Thanksgiving morning. It was a very chilly 25*. I was planning on wearing my Columbia coat until mile 2 and dropping it off at an aid station but I wore it the entire time. It was so so cold! The course was mostly through residential neighborhoods and on the Jordan River Parkway Trail- it was great!

I PR'd and ran a 1:32 and Brice ran a 1:51. I know we could have both run a little faster if we weren't so cold.
I ended up being the 5th women's finisher out of 641 and overall the 28th finisher. I got a fancy medal that I'm pretty sure got left in Utah. oh well!

Kris, Jared, and my mom all ran the 5K and they did it faster than they each said they would. It was a fun morning doing that as a family- everyone else babysat and started cooking!!

This weekend was a dream.
Brice and I drove down to St. George Friday afternoon after school and work. We  I carbo-loaded at Olive Garden with lasagna, salad, and too many bread-sticks! We headed over to the EXPO and picked up my bib! Bib number 3964. After dinner and the Expo we headed over to the Condo and felt like we walked into a dream. The condo belongs to some friends of the Wrights that just happen to be one of the owners of Tai-Pan Trading. Loved the king size bed and everything else cute and cozy. Finished the night with candy and Skip-Bo!
Saturday morning we got up and ready for the race. It stared at 9:00 am on the dot. My goal was to finish around 1:35. My last half-marathon last October was 1:44. PR? The route was filled with hills, it drizzled and then poured rain, and I came in right on the dot 1:35:22. I was so excited when results went up and I was 2nd in my division and 18th woman overall.

At mile 11 I was totally surprised when I saw my parents there with Melanie, Kris, and Brice. It made my day and they had water and rolos for me. Not a good mid-race snack by the way :)
The rest of the day was spent eating Smashburger, attending the temple, hot-tubing, and more games with the Wrights. I'm so grateful for this last weekend and the opportunity to run well and be spoiled by family!
Now were back in town and really looking forward to a busy week of school, jobs, internships, and everything else that keeps us busy! -Breann

Ringing in the New Year with a new race.
St George Half Marathon on January 21st.
I've been running 55-70 miles each week so I think I should be good, but I'd like to finish in 1:30:00 or so... we'll see!
If you see me running around Provo, give me a honk!

It's no secret I love running! I haven't always enjoyed it though; actually growing up I played soccer and running at practice was the worst part. But in an effort to lose weight in high school and get in better playing shape I started staying after school everyday and would run a mile on track. Then the next week I ran two miles everyday. Before I knew it I was coming home sweaty and so proud of myself..5, 6, or 7 miles a day! I became addicted immediately to that endorphin rush! Six years later I can honestly say I probably haven't missed more than 14 days of running (besides Sundays of course!)

Last October I ran my first race- The Halloween Half marathon and finished in 1:35 and then this last June I ran my first marathon- Utah Valley Marathon and qualified for Boston with a time of 3:37:24. I loved it and can't wait to do another. Until then you can find me at the gym or out on the streets of our little town.
