I'm so excited for you Bre! FOr our move to New York I looked at A TON of moving options. In the end we went with box pods offered by u-haul. I think they are called U-pack. Anyway, they hold a ton of stuff and you can pick them up at the uhaul place near you or have them dropped off at your house. It ended up being cheaper than PODS.
ReplyDeleteBe fore warned, there are a few pod places based out a Nevada that give really cheap estimates but are scammers. A friend used them and her stuff seriously never got delivered and they are still trying to get their money back.
Good Luck!!
thanks for the advice and the heads up! That is seriously terrible for your friends! P.S. keep blogging because your words read perfectly and i love hearing what you have to say!
DeleteFun. Maybe some time we can get together. We can walk around the huge galleria mall when it's 120 degrees and all of us are dying to get out.
ReplyDeleteWe used 1-800-packrat. They were cheaper than pods and a nicer container. They stored it for us while we found housing, but since you've already found a place that wouldn't be an issue for you. :)
ReplyDeleteWe used the Uhaul pods and loved them! (For the same reason-you can't drive a truck with kids!) It's especially cheaper if you truck the stuff to your nearest Uhaul location and pack the pods there...
ReplyDeleteActually, you can drive a Uhaul with a small child. We did when David was 6 months old, and towed our car behind us. You have to get whatever size truck has a bench seat, instead of two captain's chairs, and then just put that carseat rear-facing! You'll have to call around, but Uhaul had the best prices on the 14-foot truck (I think the 10 foot truck did not have the bench seat, so it wasn't an option) and some of the other companies didn't offer a bench seat on small trucks.
ReplyDeleteIt's not ideal for comfort, but it is technically allowed by law if there is no backseat (like if you drove a pickup truck). Also, David did a lot better traveling when he could see me and I could entertain him a bit.
Yay for moving and a new start!
